Day 1: VIA Rail Journey Begins
Begin your winter escape with an evening departure from Vancouver aboard the iconic VIA Rail sleeper train. Settle into your cozy private cabin, enjoy a delicious dinner onboard, and watch the city lights fade as you head into the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
Day 2: Welcome to Jasper
Awaken to stunning alpine views and enjoy breakfast onboard. Arrive in Jasper mid-morning and transfer to your hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring this charming alpine town at your own pace—perfect for a winter walk or hot beverage in a cozy café.
Day 3: Jasper Winter Adventures
Choose your adventure today! Embark on the Maligne Canyon Icewalk, spot local wildlife on a guided tour, gaze into the cosmos at the Dark Sky Planetarium, or experience the thrill of dog sledding through snowy trails. Return to Jasper for a relaxing evening.
Day 4: Scenic Drive to Lake Louise
Travel along the breathtaking Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise. Take in snowy mountain landscapes and frozen waterfalls along the way. Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional sleigh ride through the serene setting of Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
Day 5: Leisure Day at Lake Louise
Embrace a day of winter bliss at Lake Louise. Try ice skating on the frozen lake, go snowshoeing through snowy trails, enjoy a hot drink by the fire, or simply unwind with views of the snow-covered peaks. Optional spa treatments are also available.
Day 6: Transfer to Banff
Journey from Lake Louise to Banff, another jewel in the Rockies. After check-in, you’ll have time to take the Banff Gondola for panoramic views or explore Banff Avenue’s shops and cafes. Evening free at leisure.
Day 7: Explore Banff’s Winter Wonders
Today, select from a range of activities including the Johnston Canyon Icewalk, Paint Pots Snowshoe Tour, or a Banff Wildlife Tour. Each offers a unique look at the park’s winter beauty. Spend your final evening soaking in the atmosphere of Banff.
Day 8: Departure to Calgary
After breakfast, depart Banff by coach for Calgary. Drop-off is available either at Calgary Airport or downtown, concluding your magical winter rail adventure through the Canadian Rockies.
Board the VIA Rail train in Vancouver in the afternoon. The journey takes you through the Fraser Valley, Coastal Mountains, and Fraser Canyon. Enjoy a delicious dinner onboard before retreating to your sleeper berth for a peaceful night as the train travels through snow-covered landscapes.
